New sources on garb

As I become more familiar with searches using pasted Georgian words I am coming up with interesting articles. This was supposed to be a post about underwear; the layer against the wearer's skin whether it is shirts, trousers, or something else. That has gone out the window due to two new (to me) sources.

The first one is The Georgian Historical Clothing (ISBN 978-9941-455-24 although that doesn't seem to be valid according to ISBN search sites) edited by Eldar Nadiradze. This is a survey work on Georgian clothing that is particularly interesting because it references many older works in Georgian that are otherwise hard to find and gives specific Georgian names for historical items of clothing. In Georgian and English.

The second one, Costume in Medieval Georgia by Irina Ugrekhelidze,
is more interesting as it is only in Georgian but has intriguing illustrations of silhouettes of various items of clothing such as the five styles of kaba shown above. Additionally it describes clothing beyond the outer layer including undershirts and pants.

When all is done I suspect that my broad answer to the question of the dress of a 12th century Svaneti man is still supported. The kaba shown in the middle of the row of three is still a type that is common in 11th and 12th century frescoes in Svaneti and Racha but not in other parts of Georgia. But even with only a first pass at both sources I can tell that I need to rethink some ideas on the construction of the layers below the kaba and possibly the kaba itself.
